Rubén Yon’ton

Rubén Yon’ton Vucubcame is a Mexican Anahuaca Mesoamerican Ritual Artist. Rubén has developed a project called “Origin Te Yon’ton - Origin of the Heart,” which focuses on using channelled art for the well-being of the self.

In this way, Origin Te Yon’ton is an immersive ritual sound experience, an atmospheric sound journey that uses Teotihuacan ritual wind instruments (from central Mexico), guided by the heartbeat of the drum, atmospheric voice, and the Om’pak (Mayan trumpet).

Origin Te Yon’ton invites an awareness that we are part of a greater whole, with each of us as a thread weaving the Cosmic Web. Together, we beat as one heart, recalling the origin of that shared heartbeat.

Kindred Spirit Band

"Weave wonderful stories from seemingly phantasmagorical realms in the most engaging of manners - warms the heart" - Jerry Ewing, Editor in Chief, Prog Magazine

Five-piece Kindred Spirit Band has a completely unique take on the Prog Folk Rock genre, often with a blues / rock element and weaving thrilling lead electric guitar and flute / sax with “perceptive and intriguing” song-writing, driving rhythms and "haunting and bewitching" female vocals. Their sound has been likened to Fleetwood Mac, Renaissance, Jethro Tull, and the Moody Blues.

Band founder and driving force, Elaine Samuels, began performing solo in folk clubs at the age of only 13, getting a mention in the local press as “one to watch”! She has featured on television, radio and at countless festivals and venues. To quote Rosie Upton of the Bath Evening Chronicle, "Elaine has a voice which can be both hauntingly beautiful & deeply emotional...it is her rich repertoire of perceptive, intriguing self penned songs combined with her guitar work which sets her apart".

The Zone

Formed in 2006, The Zone are a Hampshire based 4-piece original rock band playing catchy riff-laden indie-rock with progressive/blues tendencies.

Powerful guitar riffs combined with solid bass, drums and atmospheric keyboards, The Zone are experienced musicians who have played at many venues around the Home Counties and in 2012 and 2014 they graced Guilfest’s Main Stage.

In 2024 they returned to Guilfest amongst other festivals bringing their unique high-energy sound that borrows from across the spectrum of time and genre, always containing a twist (or two) - think of it as a strange mix of Pink Floyd and Red Hot Chili-Peppers whilst The Stranglers and Cream look on! In 2025 they’re looking to play at select festivals and venues with their unique style to knock your socks off!

I'd probably file this under the alternative rock category for the most part. I can certainly see The Stranglers influence, especially in the guitar patterns, the bubbling bass and the somewhat mono-toned vocals. The keys add a solid background that merges Floyd with Ultravox. The rare bursts of bluesy guitar solos are a joy, as is the use of pianos and the extended instrumental sections. They are never complex, but add additional dimensions to the songs where they are present; something that brings them out of the ordinary.”- Andy Read, DPRP.net

Green Embers

The Green Embers are a well established, original rock band who you will find playing frequently in and around Basingstoke, Winchester, Reading, Newbury, Southampton and London.

The Green Embers have a bag full of anthems, all of which is original music which has been featured on BBC introducing, and have been described as a “reckless wall of sound”. Bugbear Promotions described them as "A soulful indie rock of an Elbow bent with U2 widescreen atmospherics, hence Ms Lauren Laverne is all over them like a rash, well, she likes 'em, and we actually quite like that!”

They don’t play covers - just original songs which are a mix of hard and soft, from ballads to heavy rock but always melodic and often anthemic with well-observed thoughtful lyrics drawn from life.  Their songs Stella, Talk Me Down and Under the Bridge became popular during lockdown, while Sit and Wonder and Hope are new becoming firm favourites in 2024.

Du Glas

"Wonderful vocals and musicianship and an amazing stage presence, Du Glas should never be missed"

- Steve Appleby, Cornwall Folk Festival

Songs of miners, mutiny and murder; starvation, sirens and smugglers, that's what you get when you leave this bunch of Cornish renegades alone with a load of wood, strings and drum skins for too long!! Du Glas offer their own brand of original roots music, combining influences from Americana and British folk-rock (and whatever else takes their fancy at the time). Their energy, humour and love of gin has incited such madness that audiences have thrown away their pints, danced in a downpour and bounced on the bar like a Bruckheimer film (you know the one we mean) You'd be a fool to miss it!!

Since 2016 the band have been rocking their way across the south of England including Wimborne Folk Festival and Chickenstock. They haven't neglected their homeland either, wowing crowds (if leaving them slightly shell shocked) at the Cornwall Folk Festival, the St Ives September Festival, Penlee Park Open Air Theatre and the Acorn Theatre. Du Glas are now busy writing material for a third album and looking forward to hitting the road again to inflict the rest of the UK with their fierce attitude, thumping rhythms and rousing tunes that will make you lose all your inhibitions, roar till your throats sore and
leave you talking like a pirate for the rest of the night.
